Vietnam Trip Cost from India (2026): What You’ll Really Spend

“Vietnam is cheap, na?”

We hear this question almost every day from travellers in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The honest answer is yes. Vietnam is one of the best-value foreign trips you can take from India right now. But “cheap” means something very different to a group of college friends than it does to a honeymoon couple.

So let’s talk real numbers. Here’s what a Vietnam trip cost from India actually looks like in 2026, covering flights, visa, hotels, food and sightseeing. It’s the same way we’d explain it if you walked into our office.

So, How Much Does a Vietnam Trip Cost from India?

For a 5 to 7 day trip, most travellers spend somewhere between ₹45,000 and ₹1,10,000 per person. Roughly:

  • Budget: ₹45,000 to ₹65,000
  • Comfortable mid-range: ₹70,000 to ₹1,10,000
  • Luxury: ₹1.5 lakh and above

Couples usually land between ₹80,000 and ₹1.8 lakh for the two of them.

Why such a wide range? Four things move the number the most: the city you fly from, when you travel, the hotels you pick, and how many places you try to squeeze in.

Where Does the Money Actually Go?

Flights take the biggest bite

Expect flights to eat up nearly half your budget. On low-cost airlines like VietJet, IndiGo or AirAsia, a return ticket booked early usually costs ₹18,000 to ₹32,000. Full-service airlines are closer to ₹30,000 to ₹45,000.

The nice part is that you no longer need long layovers from most metros. Direct flights now run from cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Kochi to Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc. Routes do change, though, so check what’s flying from your city before you lock your dates.

The visa is cheaper than you think

Indians need a visa for Vietnam, but the whole process is online. The official e-visa costs USD 25 for single entry, which is around ₹2,400 at mid-2026 exchange rates, or USD 50 for multiple entry. It’s valid for up to 90 days.

One word of caution from us: apply only on the government website, evisa.gov.vn. Plenty of lookalike sites charge double or triple for exactly the same visa. Our Vietnam visa guide for Indians walks you through the form step by step.

Hotels and food: where Vietnam really wins

This is where your rupee stretches furthest. A good 3- or 4-star hotel in Hanoi or Da Nang costs noticeably less than in most other popular Asian holiday spots.

And if you’re vegetarian, relax. Indian restaurants are easy to find in the main tourist cities, and a proper Indian meal costs about ₹400 to ₹700 per person. Local street food is cheaper still.

Sightseeing adds up quietly

Keep a separate budget for the big experiences. A ticket to Ba Na Hills, home of the famous Golden Bridge, costs roughly 950,000 to 1,000,000 Vietnamese dong per adult, including the cable car. A Ha Long Bay cruise can be a simple day trip or a full overnight stay, and the price changes a lot depending on which one you choose.

A Few Easy Ways to Spend Less

  • Skip peak season if you can. November to April is lovely but pricier, especially around New Year and Tet. May, September and October are the sweet spot. Our month-by-month guide to the best time to visit Vietnam explains this in detail.
  • Don’t try to see everything. Two or three bases, say Hanoi and Da Nang, save you money on internal flights and a lot of tiredness.
  • Book flights early. This is the single biggest saving.
  • Get your visa yourself on the official portal.

Plan It Yourself or Take a Package?

If you enjoy planning, doing it yourself can save a little money. But you’ll be juggling flights, visa forms, hotels, transfers and cruise bookings on your own.

With a package, one team handles all of it, often at better hotel rates, and someone picks up the phone if anything goes wrong. You can read more about how we plan trips in our guide to Flying Deck Vacations.
