Direct-Flights-India-to-Vietnam

A few years ago, getting to Vietnam from India usually meant a layover in Bangkok, Singapore or Kuala Lumpur. Not anymore.

Today, direct flights from India to Vietnam leave from several Indian cities, and some get you to Hanoi in under five hours. That’s shorter than many domestic connections! In this guide, we list the non-stop routes city by city, the airlines that fly them, and how to pick the right Vietnamese airport for your trip.

Last checked: October 2026. Airlines add, pause and change routes often, especially seasonally, so always confirm the schedule for your dates before booking.

Flights from Delhi

Delhi has the most choice. You can fly non-stop to Hanoi in about 4.5 hours on Air India, IndiGo, Vietnam Airlines or VietJet, or to Ho Chi Minh City in about 5 to 6 hours. VietJet has also launched routes from Delhi to Da Nang and Phu Quoc, though these can be seasonal.

Travelling from Chandigarh, Punjab or nearby?

Delhi is your nearest hub for Vietnam. Many travellers from the Tricity and Punjab drive or take a short domestic flight to Delhi and fly direct from there. Leave a comfortable buffer if your domestic leg is on a separate ticket.

Flights from Mumbai

Mumbai has non-stop flights to Ho Chi Minh City (about 5 to 5.5 hours) on VietJet and Vietnam Airlines, and to Hanoi (about 4 hours 45 minutes) on VietJet. VietJet has also launched direct routes to Da Nang and Phu Quoc, which are great for a beach-first trip.

Flights from Kolkata

Kolkata is the closest Indian metro to Vietnam. IndiGo flies non-stop to Hanoi in roughly 3 hours and to Ho Chi Minh City in a little over 4 hours. For East India, it’s one of the quickest international holidays around.

Flights from Bengaluru and Hyderabad

From Bengaluru, VietJet flies to Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi, in about 4 hours 45 minutes to 5 hours. Hyderabad has similar options, with VietJet to Ho Chi Minh City and Vietnam Airlines to Hanoi, taking around 4 to 4.5 hours.

Flights from Ahmedabad and Kochi

Ahmedabad has VietJet flights to Hanoi (about 4 hours 40 minutes), Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang. Kochi has a VietJet route to Ho Chi Minh City, a handy option for travellers in Kerala.

What About Chennai?

Chennai currently has no non-stop flight to Vietnam. Most travellers connect through another hub, and the journey usually takes 7 to 9 hours with one stop.

Which Vietnamese Airport Should You Fly Into?

  • Hanoi: best for the north, including Ha Long Bay and Sapa.
  • Ho Chi Minh City: best for the south, the Mekong Delta and onward flights to Phu Quoc.
  • Da Nang: best for beaches, Ba Na Hills and Hoi An.
  • Phu Quoc: best for an island and resort holiday.

A smart trick is an “open-jaw” ticket: fly into Hanoi and out of Da Nang or Ho Chi Minh City, so you never backtrack. Our 7-day Vietnam itinerary uses exactly this kind of route.

One important visa tip: your Vietnam e-visa asks for your arrival airport, so choose your flights first. Our Vietnam visa guide explains the full process.

Tips for Booking Direct Flights

  • Check baggage carefully. Low-cost airlines charge separately for checked bags and meals.
  • Book early for peak season. December, New Year and Diwali fares rise quickly. Our best time to visit Vietnam guide shows when demand is highest.
  • Watch for overnight flights. Many India–Vietnam flights depart late at night and land early morning, so plan an early hotel check-in.
